Question about my BG tonight

you say your liver is recovering, will it completely recover?

If and when that happens, that is the time to have further BG tests to give a definitive answer as to whether it was your liver or not.

I did have incidents years back which happened every so often. I actually went to the doctor about it but they had a go at me saying there was absolutely no need to snack between meals and brushed me off.

Basically what would happen is sometimes I would go all hot and clammy, sweaty all of a sudden and shaky and wobbly and I would have to eat a bar of chocolate or something to get better.

The worst time which prompted me to go to the doctor was when I was attending a management course about 60 miles away. We had lunch laid on and I had a sandwich. Then later they passed around some quality street and I had one. Come about 5 when we finished I was ok. Then I met a friend who was there shopping for the day. They liked to go everywhere and proceeded to drag me round every shop. I started to feel ill, hot clammy, shaky. Then as we were walking back to the train station I was so so ill I honestly felt I could collapse down at the side of the road and just fall asleep. It's hard to describe. I really really struggled t make it to the station all the while wanting to just collapse and sleep. When I got there the train was delayed so I went in the shop there bought a bar of chocolate and a lucozade and after that I was right as rain.

Yes my doctor said it likely will
 
I thought that what you were thinking. Good news your liver is recovering!

An occasional treat is good. We all have them, or most of us do. No harm will have been done, and your 8.5 is the same as the NICE guidelines give for a type 2 at 2 hours, albeit higher than the guidelines for a non-diabetic, which is 7.8. On top of this, our meters aren't accurate and can vary between plus or minus 15%. If you really want more evidence, do try another carb meal, testing before then after at 1hr and 2hrs. and see what happens.

If your diagnostic test was just a fasting glucose test you may be right, and maybe the glucose levels were raised at the time of the test for some other reason. If it was an HbA1c test and came out at 13.7% this is really extremely high as it equates to an average of 19.2mmol/l over the previous 2 to 3 months. This is why you need to know what you had.

I will try ringing the reception tomorrow and ask rather than waiting to see my nurse.
 
Find out your liver test result if you can too. Mine was way too high, but has recovered well.

They said they're in the 400's and a normal persons are in the 30's.

May I ask what yours were and how long it took to recover. Did you have liver pain?

OK, well that's higher than mine - mine were 160 ish. Reducing carbs really helps though and mine were almost normal at one stage, though I'm afraid I lapsed for a bit, so I'm having to work on it again.
