Hello Everyone, I been on Trulicity 0.75 for a year. I have had a close loved one die and it broke me, still does, so didn't go for my 3 monthly check ups. I got this awful fear of the medical world, anyway I was getting ill from trulicity so had to give it up. But couldn't getting bloods appointment till next Tues so been without the trulicity for about 6wks. I cant take Metaformin either as i had been on it for 13yrs, and its messed up my tummy. Now my sugars are reading in the late teens, 18 or 19mmol/l. I want to get a tablet that i can take that won't have serious side effects. I know they all have side effects but i hope to get something that won't. Also my sugars were never very low, i wonder what meds you found good apart from the injection type. Do any of you get upper right hand side pain? Thank you so much in advance

Hello @norm62
I am sorry for your loss, and concerned that you are feeling so awful. I have no personal experience of diabetes meds other than Metformin, so not able to offer any insights on that.

What does concern me is that you have stopped meds and your blood glucose is very high. You haven’t mentioned if the reading of 18 or 19mmol/l is constant. Or if you have done anything to try to reduce it.

Without wishing to alarm you, the levels you mention are in the realm of hyperglycaemia, and the pain you have also needs checking out. We are not allowed to diagnose here, so you may be best checking with out of hours medical service before your appointment on Tuesday.
This is the info from NHS

Hi there @norm62 , I'm so sorry. The loss of someone close is so devastating. It's hard to express in words as they seem so inadequate for the intense feelings one has and the emptiness of losing someone. Do you have family and friends that you can talk to ? Sometimes just talking to someone who can just listen to you helps.

As for your blood sugars, those figures are high, but not extremely high. They can go way higher. Never-the-less they do need to come down. Are you checking for sugars and ketones in your pee? If you start to feel unwell, or have extreme thirst, then take yourself to emergency . That's why we have casualty departments. I'm also not able to help you with your meds as I do not take those, but you can call the nurse line. I live in Canada , but I do know that the UK does have a nurse line. Just talking to a nurse over the phone will help. If the nurse feels you should have an emergency appointment they should be able to help. Just let them know what's going on with your blood sugars, they should be able to offer some advice.
Please feel free to keep posting.

I have just looked, the NHS Health line is 111.

Edited as I pressed send accidentally.

Hello Melgar
Thank you for your very kind and supportive reply. I live in Ireland i am not sure if theres a helpline here. Hopefully Tues i be able to explain all to the nurse, as nearest hospital is 40 miles away. This morning my levels read 15mmol/L. I don't have a good appetite since using the Trulicity, my diet is very bland with years, I do still take Forixiga. It's because my only sibling died in 2023 from lung cancer, i got terrible fear of Drs as there had been lot of delays and appointments delay. I guess i was angry. It prob makes no sense. Anyway i will update you after Tuesday and i think i may have results Fri 2nd or Wed 7th. Thank you again

Hello everyone, i met the top diabetes nurse on Wed last, an absolute angel, times have changed, she explained everything to me in normal terms, she took no notice of how high my blood sugars were, she made a plan, 2 new tablets Diamicron 30mg, Januvia 100mg, Lift Glucose shot in case they drop too low with the new meds, Advised Centrum for my low Vit D, low iron, as i cant take real iron. She was the nicest person told me i shouldn't have had the high dosages of metaformin over the years. Dr signed script, I spoke to nurse about my anxiety so she added that to my report to talk to dr about meds
which I did he put me on propanolol, it also acts as beta blocker but takes the anxiety symptoms apparently. ECG, Kidneys etc all ok. I do suffer from tummy ulcer recently, had it years ago, hoping the new meds won't bother that, any of you on Januvia plus Diamicron together at any time? Thank you for all your support much appreciated always.
