Hi can any tell me if having your period effects your levels, my nurse hasn't got me self testing so am unable to tell for sure but the rash I had pre diagnose has been really bad the last few days and as it started to fade I started to feel lightheaded and sluggish .

No idea sorry, I've only been testing since starting insulin and have been on the contraceptive injection since before then. Hopefully someone else can be more help!

Not female.....however it can and does affect levels. Not always. The reason being your hormones are affected and that can play havoc with Bg levels. You really need to test to see how it affects you.

There have been similar questions before. Hopefully those affected will also answer you.

Yep, it does affect my GL. So does being ill with a cold and believe it or not, when I'm feeling depressed or in a bad mood... It's quite normal so my doc told me.

My BS seems to run slighty higher for a day or 2 before my period then lower than normal for a couple of days before getting back to an even keel - I often have minor hypo's in the first 2 days and have to have a 10 15g carb snack on those days - I don't snack normally - I discovered this with regular testing - to find out how anything affects your BS you need to test - just going on how you are feeling is no indication of whether you are high or low - ask your nurse for a meter and present a good case of why you want to test and you may just be lucky! - I have to but my own but I think it's worth it to help you gain good control

I have had two low readings over the last three days so i guess periods don't make my levels go higher. Since becoming Diabetic I suffer with awful night sweats the week of my period which I guess are due to hormonal changes as i'd never experienced them before. I hate them
