Does anyone else get woken up in the middle of the night with a blinding headache and higher than normal (but not ridiculously high) bg??? Or is it just me?

Sometimes, people develop something called "leaky gut", official name is intestinal permeability, due to antibiotic use or other things, which leads to some of the foods we eat getting into the blood stream. This is not supposed to happen, but if and when it does, the immune system reacts, and over time this can develop into a food sensitivity which results in symptoms such as headaches or other symptoms when you eat that particular food. There are so many causes of headaches... dehydration, caffeine or chocolate withdrawal, lack of enough sodium if you're on the low carb high fat diet, possibly a drop in blood glucose if you ate carbohydrates by themselves prior to going to bed resulting in a sudden drop in blood glucose after you fall asleep... These are just a few of the reasons I used to get headaches.

Hopefully you'll be able to sort this out. Let us know. :)

It could be something simple like dehydration @P1ckle. How much fluid you drink in a day?

Best to see your G.P. if this keeps happening as nobody here is medically qualified so we can only suggest what it might be.

As well as checking with your doctor, you could try getting a new pillow and/or turning your mattress. Last year I had to take painkillers many nights because of headaches that seemed to come out of nowhere.

Only when I got a painful neck did I realise that the cause was my pillows. Somehow they were putting my head and neck at an awkward angle and causing the headaches.

I don't know if that's what's causing your problem, but it's something else to look at maybe.

Thx guys. Been to the doc already, they didn't suggest anything. That's why I thought I'd ask here if anyone else had any suggestions. I'll watch hydration closely and turn mattress and pillows :) thank you
