Question re. potential diabetic complications.

I am a borderline diabetic hopefully not yet fully type 2. For some months I have had this feeling of warmth up the back of my left leg and wonder if it could have anything to do with diabetes? It comes and goes at any time of day and is not unpleasant yet it is strange. It starts in the lower calf and works up to the thigh then will fade until the next time. No pain, nothing like that yet I am starting to worry slightly that it may be something that needs investigating. Any ideas or is it nothing at all?

@gardengnome42 Do you check your BG levels? If not how would you know if your pre diabetic or not?
If your BG levels have taken you to diabetic range you would have regular check ups with a podiatrist,doctor and a diabetic nurse but from what your saying your only sensible option would be to see your doctor ,I don't mean to sound offensive just putting out your options! K
 
I could go to the dr or the nurse but thought I'd ask here as I really don't know if it is relevant or not, that's why I asked if it has any relevance to diabetes. I don't have diabetes but because of hypertension do have various blood tests annually and last autumn the HbA1c was 43. So I had to see the nurse and have to have another test in September but decided to ask for a repeat sooner. I have my own meter and test before and after meals with varying results.
I have a meter and test pre and post meals with differing results but certainly I think many would be classed as prediabetic. I have no idea whether these episodes of feeling warmth/heat in my leg could be anything to do with diabetes - that's why I asked.
 
A tingly feeling, like a light pins and needles in the feet and lower leg, which my nurse puts down to damage from my high sugare levels pre diagnosis, but never a 'Warm' feeling.

I do hope it's something like developing muscles (if you're excercising more) and nothing more serious such as an invisible man stalker or the ghost of a lost hamster.......
 
Get it checked out, but your post appears to me as a circulation issue if it's moving but I'm no expert
 
So nothing obvious then. Think I'll leave it alone in that case, it's really not a problem just rather strange.
I do think that once getting on the radar of the NHS and the bossy nurses at the GP practice - in my case originally with high blood pressure - it has made me obsess about my health; and that I don't feel is very healthy. I was always brought up with a stiff upper lip, don't make a fuss etc.
When I had a health MOT 5 years ago the sense of satisfaction when the HCA found my high BP was palpable and I felt I had walked into a trap which I have regretted ever since. I'm probably being illogical but there you go!
 
I think you are right to ask your question here, it is a valid question. I had none of the classic symptoms of T2 at diagnosis but after reading around this forum for just a few weeks I found that I had been experiencing some of the lesser known symptoms that on their own would not flag up Diabetes and which I had put down to getting older.

Having three other conditions apart from T2 has taught me never to put any new symptom down to Diabetes directly and therefore ignored. I would advise that all new symptoms that last longer than a few weeks be checked out by a health care professional. There is certainly no harm in asking here for other peoples' experience, though. If this has been going on for a few weeks I would definitely consult with a doctor. A warm feeling, as opposed to warm to the touch, can be related to circulation issues, and also to nerve issues (trapped or inflamed). I'm not at all suggesting this is the case for you, but it is worth investigation.
 
I would definitely get it checked out, symptoms that come and go can be frustrating and might be an indicator of something or might be nothing at all. Hubby has been dealing with moving nerve pain and strange sensations for nearly a year and we are no closer to finding out what it is....just a few things that it isn't ! Good luck.

Incidentally Hubby experienced a feeling of 'sunburn' in various places on his back-does it feel like that ?
 
Thanks for your replies everyone. If it continues I'll mention it to the dr/nurse next time I am at the surgery but I won't make a special appointment. That's if I could anyway! It is definitely a warm feeling that spreads upwards in a not unpleasant way and does not feel warm to the touch though it seems as though it would. It's probably absolutely nothing to do with sugar levels.
