I am told 48-53 is diabetic control range for person diagnosed diabetic
I always thought we aimed for 48 (not that I have attained that in years)
Just wondering what your understanding is of this HBA1C reading are
I’m told 54 is ok for me? Which is great news but is it really what I should aim for?

Under 42 is non-diabetic, between 42 and 48 is the prediabetic range, and above that, is the diabetic range. I think that what is acceptable may vary per person, really... I'd prefer to hit non-diabetic numbers myself, because a HbA1c of 54 would likely mean complications and organ damage down the road. To me, that would not be acceptable by a long shot, but some who are on other medications for issues other than diabetes, or have conditions that take priority, etc etc. That might be an entirely different story. So there are probably rules of thumb various people would work with, from your nurse to the average endo, but I think it's more important you decide what works for you. What your goals are, what do you want to aim for, and how.

Sorry for late reply
Thanks for this
I ordered a cookbook to help eradicate type 2
To be honest my diet is abysmal and I only have head of pancreas
Thanks for voice of reason it’s my body and I need to take care of myself
I could happily stay as I am and be 54 but as you say the issues this causes won’t be worth the indulgences food wise
