Questions About Cricket

I watched an instructional video on YouTube yesterday and now I have more questions than ever so am posting them here.

According to the video, 2 batsmen/batspersons go to bat at the same time. Are the same two always paired together? Do they try to pair a stronger one with a weaker one? Is it luck of a draw?

I've read about batsmen getting their "century." Is that possible for one person to get on his own, or do the two people get it as a pair? Do scores that don't require running count towards one's century? Or just scores that actually involve running?

That's all for now. Thanks to anyone who replies.

Hi @SaskiaKC I will ry to take the questions in order

Are the same two always paired together? Do they try to pair a stronger one with a weaker one? Is it luck of a draw? Batters are numbered 1 to 11 and usually bat in that order starting with 1 and 2. The theory is lowest numbers are most accomplished/adept. Some batters are more adept against certain types of bowler or at scoring rapidly if needed. So the order they bat may be altered to suit the situation. Each batter is out once when another batter joins them. In theory you can end up with 1 and 11 together.

A batter gets a century on their own.

Scores that don't require running (boundaries) count. There is a line marking the edge of the playing area. A batter hitting the ball over that line on the ground score 4 runs. If the ball clears the playing area in the air at all times is worth 6 runs.
Hope that helps.
