Hi my name is Paula i'm diabetic since 1994.
I live in Portugal but sooner i'm gonna live to England.
there are a few things that i would like to know before i move to there.
Here in Portugal we have a hospital for diabetic people APDP there we have every kind of help that we need, every type of doctors and etc...i wonder if you have some kind of place like that there?
Also here in portugal diabetic people have things like my insulin (glargina or Lantus) and others that are for free, the blood glucose strips we pay just 30% and some pen needles are fro free also... my question is do we have things like that on England or is like in Brazil that we have to pay for insulin, strips, needles and etc???
hope somebody could help me
thanks anyway

Hi Paula
Diabetics in the UK are usually seen by Doctors and nurses at their doctors surgery, or in a diabetic clinic at their local hospital, or a combination of the two.

As you are diabetic taking insulin you will be exempt from prescription charges which means you will get your strips and insulin etc for free as well as any other medication you may need.

hey ClaireG thanks for the help
i was worried about this cause i know that diabetic cares without being for free is really hard to keep, i'm brazilian and lives there with diabetic 11 years and the only thing that was for free was the insulin and that was by animal origin, but that was a long time ago now maybe have changed xD
thanks again
