Hi Tony, welcome to the forum. The best way to not get high blood sugar levels as a type 2 is to watch what you are eating. Carbohydrate is the key word to watch out for on packaging.
Drinking plenty of water and sitting it out is the most you can do. Which medication are you on ?
Do you test your blood sugar levels ? What sort of level are you at ?
hi just managed to get it down to around 7.0 have been between 12/16 i am on avandamet 4mg/1000mg (2 a day),simvastatin 40mg ramipril 1.25mg 75 mg aspirin and now gliclazide 80mg
Try reducing your carbohydrate intake and see if that helps bring down your levels. You can buy a good carb counter book in WH Smith's and this will help you work out just how much carbs you are eating.
Gliclazide makes your pancreas make insulin which can eventually exhaust the pancreas. It is better to try and reduce carbohydrates which are the cause of your blood sugar rising in the first place.
