Quick question about blood tests pre diabetic clinic

I have a diabetic clinic appointment at the end of the month and have to have blood tests to prepare for it.

When I visit the hospital for the test, should I fast beforehand? Or can I go at any time, before/after meals etc.

(I'm Type 2 BTW)

Fast or not.......that is for the Hospital to decide. You will have to ask them before you go as it all depends on what type of tests you are going for ..........
 
Depends on the tests. HbA1c doesn't need fasting, but Cholesterol/ lipids, DOES. Ring your healthcare team and ask them.

Hi I'm relatively new at this game too. If they gave you one of what appears to be standard blood test forms, there should be a box somewhere that asks about glucose and next to it may ask random or fasted a similar question may be against Lipids. If you are in any doubt ask your hospital or diabetic clinic.
