Before i was diagnosed a couple of months ago a would regularly go out have a mixed grill and 6 or so pints of strongbow. I am out at the moment doing exactly that for a treat but do not have my meter on me. Just wondering what numbers everybody would expect after this 15,20,25,30. I know I shouldn't but hey ho its a treat that I don't indulge in often.

Thanks

Thats impossible to answer.

Its like asking:

How long is a rope?

It all depends on your particular metabolism and we would all be guessing but I think the mixed grill would be fine (ish) if you go light on the chips. The Strongbow has about 20g per pint so I will plump for the 20's with a crash in the morning when the hangover arrives. Enjoy yourself.

We could run a book on this. Who is good at calculating odds?

Feeling really really guilty. If your running a book on this what are the chances of me even being alive in the morning.

You will feel like **** but probably alive. The headache will get better if you eat something and for this one occasion it can be slightly carby. By lunchtime you should be ok but straighten out for a while, you can't do this often.

I don't understand guilt. Go see your vicar.

Alcohol lowers your bloodsugar so you will be fine.
It doesn't do it until you are in hangover mode since the liver cannot do two things at once. It will process the alcohol first and then supply sugar. While it is doing this you will be short of sugar.

Exactly watch out for hypos !

What are you expecting your numbers to be? How high would they have to be for you to think it was / wasnt worth it?

Hi all just got back home. The story is been diagnosed about 2 months now. Before being diagnosed I would eat what i wanted as does everyone but not have a massive appetite so when i have had enough i stop eating. I was about 14 1/2 stone before being told i am t2 and now just over 13 stone. I am probably a borderline alcoholic for 20 odd years now but never missed a days work or never had a drink if i had to take one of the kids footy or the wife shopping only had a cider when all was done and relaxing of a night. Was told my hba1c was 73 but because I drink so much I think it would have been more. My numbers now the most i have seen is 17 but that was when I first got my meter and was not taking too much notice of my condition. I am now between 7 and 9 most of the time. Been out today had mixed grill ended up having 2 ciders and watching my son play football and about 4 wines. Now back home some vodka and low cal tonic. I am not an idiot and know its not good for liver etc but thought my numbers would be 20-30 but its 8.3 i know liver is busy doing one thing and not another. I know this is long but also i am going to Majorca for 4 days and want to enjoy myself so that means drinking and eating ( mostly better choices) for 16 hours a day.
Thanks all
(Don't know why i i am telling you all this but maybe i just want to hear enjoy yourself )
