Just out of interest, do members who walk after a meal to help bg start off testing with and without the walking?
How long did it take you before you realised that this is a positive thing to do?

When I first arrived on this forum the advice wasn't to walk after a meal it was to run up and down the stairs several times, as many times as you could manage. I gave that a go a few times and saw no drop at all. I have no recollection if it made matters worse BG wise, but it definitely didn't help me. I have never tried the walking after a meal as it doesn't fit in with the way we live. Now my levels are good post meal, average less than 1mmol/l rise at 2 hours and normally under 7 at an hour or 90 minutes, I don't need to worry about it. My mother would turn in her grave at the thought of walking, and especially running up and down stairs after eating - we had to sit and let the food digest.

My Bs is better at lunchtime, because in the morning that is when I am at my most active, but I do see a good result, afternoons, if I do gardening or DIY, or walking outside (fine weather).

Hi I’ve just started walking after my main meal for a quick 20mins circuit for past three days and can report there is a definite lowering of my bgs compared to my records of the previous few weeks when I didn’t walk after my meal. I find that unless exercise is vigorous like this mornings 6 miler with some steep hills - which puts my bg up initially and then a big drop a couple of hours later - an after meal moderate pace 20 min walk results in about a 0.5 lower reading at two hours after meal for me but I’m fairly fit so this more gentle walk isn’t a stressor at all.
