Hi folks. This evening before my evening meal my BGs were 5.0. I then had a meal of vegan chilli and a "hash" made of tomatoes, onions, peas and mushrooms with 40g of raw quinoa added. Historically I have had the same meal with bulghur instead of quinoa and my BGs have only increased by up to 2.0, but today it went from a pre-meal 5.0 to a disturbing 8.1

Has anyone else had a similar problem with quinoa?

Yes, definitely! I was very disappointed too, because I had hoped I could tolerate it.

Yes. Quinoa tends to give me a bigger increase in bg than brown rice.

Worth noting there are different varieties of quinoa though.

Whole, intact grains are worth a try. E.g. pot barley or rye berries where you would use rice.

Oat groats are much better than instant oats for porridge
