Will a severe cold affect the blood/ sugar level. Insulin does not seem to be as effective now as I have a severe cold.
 
Yes. I personally get raised sugars when I'm ill. perhaps try raising your insulin
 
DAFNE sick day rules would advocate a 10-20% increase in basal insulin and adjust bolus to suit
