I ate a lot raisons at lunch failing to realize they effect your bg rather badly my sugars were 7.1 but at dinner just before 5 it was 18.9. Is there any sort of raisins out there that effect your bg like that or do i just need to be alot more carefull with them, just to state i'm on Novomix 30 twice daily been on it for 4 years now.

Raisins are high in carbs. It depends on just how many you ate, but if you ate a lot and didn't bolus for them, then your blood sugars could have gone up quite a bit.

Basically, each raisin is a little dried grape. Think how sweet grapes are and how easy it is to eat lots if they're dried and smaller.

So yes, be careful with raisins and all dried fruit, and allow for the carbs they contain and your BS resukts shoukd be much better.

Lesson learnt Jonathan, as @azure says they are quite carby so portion control is important if you decide to have raisins again.

They are high in carbs, very sweet. Many supermarkets do small boxes ( what they call kid size boxes, for lunch boxes) so you would be more in control of the amount you eat.

Best wishes RRB
