Hi,

I’ve been sent an appointment for the above but I don’t have glaucoma! Does anybody know what this test actually is? Of course it came last night when I can’t actually ring anybody until Monday! Thanks.

Have you recently had an eye test at the opticians etc It may have flagged something up that needs further investigation by a specialist - there’s glaucoma in my family so I am watched by my optician for it just like with diabetes, diabetes as well as family history can be a factor too. Don’t know if this link is any help to you

Yes I did with Specsavers but they didn’t tell me anything was wrong, the pressures in my eyes were fine. My dad has Glaucoma.

Perhaps give Specsavers a call & see if they have any more info, is there a number to ring on the letter you recieved? In these cases best to find out from the source

Try not to worry. My opticians did exactly the same to me. Didn't say anything to me, just referred me. I go regularly for checks with them, yearly now. 6 months originally. It's standard now I think when someone has a close blood relative with glaucoma. They picked up other eye conditions which the optician didn't, which is now being monitored (that doesn't meant they will find anything wrong with your eyes). It's standard eye check with photos and following flashing light then a specialist has a good look at eyes close up and sometimes with dye. It's really not as bad as it sounds. Make sure you go because it's better to be safe than sorry later down the line, but it's really nothing to worry about, standard stuff. Good luck x
Oh, and these eye conditions are not related to diabetes so I'm under optician s, diabetic blood screening and this eye clinic. I can imagine of us are x

Did Specsavers ask after the test to confirm your GP name & address?

I’ve had checks at Specsavers. In my experience they don’t “diagnose” but if there is a potential issue detected they will refer to a ophthalmologist via the surgery..
