rapid insulins

Some people really like one brand or kind over another. And it just varies per person. You almost have to try one to find out. While fast actings are sort of the same thing, they do have different chemical make-ups. Plus you have Fiasp, which is Novorapid with an added ingredient to make it work faster and you have Lyumjev, which is Humalog with an added ingredient to make it work faster.

Novorapid is okay for me, I prefer Humalog. I think you are using Novorapid? You might try Fiasp.

How is humalog better ie faster or longer acting please

Hi,

Which one are you currently using..?

Hello, I have been on Novorapid since 1997, using a pump, I’ve had a lot of arguments with Novo Nordisk about air in their vials, some so bad I could use it as a spirit level! so, the last straw was when they said nothing was wrong, I worked in pharmaceuticals, and I said there was, I finally said enough is enough, now I’m on Humalog with my new Tslim control IQ and it’s just so much quicker, perhaps it’s my body’s preference, but it works for me, you will certainly find, hospitals and nurses have their favourites.

I no longer “spike” like I did with novorapid, and it’s certainly keeping me straight and level.

Where before I was very poorly controlled, with just 16% in range and using the accu chek insight pump, I’m now as of yesterday a whopping 82% in range, I was 99% but my puppy chewed the inset tube and I had to change it, hence why i went to 82%

If you are having problems, ask your healthcare team, and see if they will put you on one you may think works for you, good luck

Novorapid per research is supposed to be faster. For me it is a little slower. Not a lot, but slower. I know my endo when I said I wanted to try it in my pump, said I wouldn’t like it because most of her patients thought it was slower. I remember trying it years and years ago and it worked okay, but I liked Humalog better and fairly quickly switched back.

While some insurance and some physicians treat Humalog and Novorapid as the same “stuff” it is chemically made up a little different. And a lot of us end up preferring one over another, but it could be either one. And some people don’t notice any difference.

I decided to only try it again because there is research to show Novorapid holds up better in a pump. Novorapid supposedly holds up better in a plastic container and less susceptible to getting shaken when wearing a pump. I am having more issues with pod/site failures so I gave it a try again. And again, I just don’t like it as well, slower enough that I notice.
