Tried to see if I could get some feedback on questions without joy so trying here , here goes --Had on and off sort of rash which is itchy around front and back of neck . Diagnosed 4 months ago and the blurred vision sorted itself out , the feet tingling etc is reducing all the time but the itchy neck thing although on and of has dragged on , which I am told is pariferral. Any one got any experience of this?

It is peripheral neuropathy itch, one of the more annoying side effects of diabetes, it is caused by damage to nerves.
Having good blood sugar levels can control and stop the itch.
I get it prurtitus which is itching all over usually hits one place like feet and as soon as you scratch it moves, diabetes the disease that keeps on giving

Shar67 thanks for picking up my post , and thanks for your comments, I have a four day growth and feel a shave will help , your right it's a real pain as it is itchy on the neck on the cheeks and right at the hairline at back of head. Don't suppose you know if this can be reversed as thinking back when first diagnosed this was one of my initial symptoms. How long have you had it yourself.

I started itching at diagnosis recently it is more off than on and I think that is due to good blood sugars, it is strange because I went vegetarian October last year and I think it has helped but as we are all different it is trial and error to find out what helps, and it can go away. Have you tried LCHF diet lots of people notice differences with that
I did have a bad time beginning of summer heat made blood sugars go loopy and I had such and itchy face I went to GP he gave me and anti itch cream which I was allergic to face became swollen and it didn't stop itch, ended up going to chemist and got calamin lotion that helped but you cannot go out with it on

yes I'm on LCHF , have hardly looked at a carb in 4 moths weight nearly normal after losing nearly 3 stone and Sugars now under control , I'm not an experimental diabetic , bar the oatcakes and the very occasional small coconut sugar bar of dark chocolate. What I find is their are so many negative takes on the internet about neuropathy , their is a big difference between acute and chronic which is not made clear in so many articles and pieces . I emailed Prof Taylor at Newcastle Uni today to see if he had any data on itching. I was advised to use a natural product for the itching called critical cream by my homeopathic lady. Great feedback thx Shar
