ok so a slightly different topic now I’ve posted a few times before regarding my anxiety around my hba1c . I got it down from prediabetic 42 to 35 and have been struggling whether to believe if this is correct as my numbers seem higher to me. But the other thing that has come to my attention is that my blood sugar numbers improved while doing low carb high fat but my blood pressure has not improved I’m on medication for it but I read the true marker improvement of insulin resistance is blood pressure??? It hasn’t got worse for sure but my readings are the same as when I was prediabetic 42 and now at 35. Is this the case to see if insulin sensitivity has improved?? I’m so confused and still upset with this whole awful diagnosis. I can’t get my head around it. I’ve still got this awful apple shape body that is so annoying as I’ve lost weight and now almost underweight but with a 29 inch waist still putting me in the higher risk category. I just don’t know how to proceed. And to make things worse a friend told me I should be doing plant based low fat as that improves insulin resistance??? She said my lower A1C means nothing if blood pressure hasn’t changed! I don’t know what to do anymore

Simple, stop listening to friends, stop even thinking about blood pressure, bg or body shape, or even anything physical at all.
Just get help for your anxiety and learn to be happy, and grateful for the body you have which works just fine.

Thank you you are right I do seem to listen to too many people!!!! I was just wondering whether it takes longer to see improvement with blood pressure

Stress can raise blood pressure not just insulin resistance, and there are other explanations too.

Your friend is advocating a vegan way of eating and there’s a few loud proponents (mostly type 1 - a different disease) that claim it’s animal fats that cause insulin resistance not carbs. Their results aren’t that amazing and their goals not that aspirational and very few (especially type 2) seem to be able to achieve the results they claim. Many more do far better on low carb. She probably read a magazine article or blog rather than genuinely understands any of the science. Well meant but she’s making you worse and not helping. Tell her thank you but no thank you.

Yes it’s a vegan based diet she’s referring to. It’s just because she said high blood pressure is insulin resistance if we have prediabetes so i just assumed it’s linked to that for sure but my mum and dad also had high blood pressure and grandparents so possibly genetic too. I’m on medication that controls it well but I guess there’s no way for me to know if it’s caused by insulin resistance in my case but being prediabetic I assumed it was

It could be. It could be something else. Have you heard what assume means? Makes Ass.u.me (a joke not a pop at you) but does highlight the dangers of making leaps without evidence.

I'm afraid I can't advise you, but I read your thread and I think you are a remarkable person and have clearly accomplished something very impressive, by reducing your blood sugar reading. Stay strong.
