all the things i am having
Hi,
I know i have had a few replies about reading but I am afraid i can not get my head around the readings that i am getting after my first few days, i appreciate that certain foods can change the reading but what time scale can they take, is it as quick as 2hrs, for before and after. Yesterday was lunch 7.5, after dinner 8.5, ok i realise that pasta and rice in the same day might not have helped but this mornings now i am realy confused, first reading after getting up before breakfast 4.5, this would be great if i knew i was contributing to it coming down but i am not sure i am or is it just my body. Thinking, could the machine be wrong within 4 mins i took another reading 5.7, could this be normal or was i too concerned about the first reading and that has affected the 2nd

Hia - I don't think you should get worked up about these 2 readings within 4 minutes of each other. All meters have different tolerance levels and I can take a reading on one hand and if, for some reason, I've doubted that reading I can do it again very quickly and it can be slightly different again (i have had big variances but they're not often and usualy down to not washing hands for both readings). By the way, those readings are excellent and you should be very chuffed with with them - well done.

Hi. Sadly many of us get inconsistent results for a range of reasons. It's not worth worrying too much about the precise results but measure a trend and also the effect of certain foods around 2 hours after eating a meal. 2hrs is a very general timescale as some foods digest much quicker than others. It's not that scientific I'm afraid using the tools we currently have available.

Agree with Riri and Daibell, dont get too hung up on exact numbers.

Just aim to be below 8.5 2 hours after eating. You can always aim lower once you've got your head round it.

I don't even bother with a morning read - too unreliable
