Started taking metformin on Friday evening for the first time. Woke up on Saturday and could bearly walk on my left foot. Since then I have had muscle pain, my sight is a bit blurry, dizziness and other minor things. This morning woke up with a severy headache. Slight foggness and fallen on to furniture. Spoke to my diabetic nurse about what has happened and about the pain in my foot and she said it didn't sound like a reaction. When I read the side effects what I am experiencing are side effect. Am I just imaging it or are these side effects?

and she said it didn't sound like a reaction.

Some of it might be but are you on the slow release version of Metformin? Very early days and your system might take a while to settle down but get some straight answers. Good luck

What dosage are you on and what are your readings?
You are supposed I think to build up the dose of metformin slowly taking one tablet per day if you have been prescribed more than one. A lot of people ask for the slow release version which is kinder to your body (allegedly).
Bit more info would be useful.
Personally I would stop taking them and see if the symptoms go away.. but I am no doctor so its up to you.
Hope you are feeling better
Regards
Mark

Those all seem to be on the list of side effects so it is a possibility.
Discuss it with your DN or doctor again..

If not side effects of medication then must be being caused by something else which should be investigated if symptoms persist.
