Hi @Brunneria
My consultant has tried medication (along with 3 years of tests including a 72 hour starve) but as the dose increased I had terrible stomach problems so I am just controlling with diet. I just find if I get a cold or infection, it sends my sugar levels all over the place, so a simple cold can really affect me.
My hospital consultant is really good, so will ask him on my next visit where I stand with work.
My consultant has said that RH often transitions into diabetes, have you heard this?
Hi @sharon80Day 1 of LC for me.... Will let you know!
My dad is type 2 and used to have hypos when he was younger but the doc put it down to stress/panic attacks!
I have to say, low carb is very much not what I've been told to do! I avoid sugar. But lately I have been gaining weight, so after reading much of the above, it's def something I am going to try to see if it works for me.
It hasn't been too bad, I did miss having potato with my dinner, but coped better than I thought. Let's see how day 2 goes. I've been researching recipes, but I can see my will power will be tested when I'm cooking tea (with carbs) for everyone else!
Hi Brunneria,
What's it like in God's own county?
I was born a yellow belly!)
Derek
Hey everyone and Hey Sharon80 I have no diagnose of RH but think it could be! Got a appointment by a endo next week. As les carbs I eat as better my body. I'm still able to eat some carbs! I find as older I get as worse my problems with bs. Do u's have the same?! Sharon80 do u also have problem with blood pressure and other Side effects?! If yes, what kind?
Once you get your head around the idea that what you're eating is harming you. Then it will become easier. There will always be temptations and you can tolerate some treats, I'm just about to have my supper of full fat Greek yogurt, couple of strawberries and a couple of pieces of 85% dark chocolate. Doesn't do anything to my blood levels and so yummy!
One of the tricks I learnt is to have little and often. Even if it means to have something like 6, 7 or 8 snacks a day, this is not to difficult as it seems, all you do is topping up through the day, once the hunger pangs go and they will its easier to have a bite to eat than plan bigger meals and it didn't impact on your blood glucose levels.
Hi
No I don't have BP probs, my Blood sugar falls very dramatically, when I was having tests at hospital it fell from 6 (which is quite high for me) to 2.1 in 10 mins, so I only have a little bit of notice to spot the symptoms, so I have to act quickly.
I go very hot and sweat profusely, get shaky, very confused (couldn't possibly take my own bloods, I've tried and it didn't turn out well....), I just go for a quick fix of Lucozade then eat asap.
