That's amazingly good. I don't touch carrots anymore as they spike me. I don't want to be drunk just to be able to partake occasionally and especially at my wedding!xx
Hi Brun, do you mind me asking how your type 2 was diagnosed please? Was it GTT defined or Hba1a defined?Honestly? Being type 2 has made my life MUCH easier.
Seriously.
All those years of RH, all those lows.
Suddenly, when I hit T2, the sudden drops in bg slowed down and became much more manageable. It was like being on holiday.
Being T2 is (in my experience) only as hard as you make it - by that, I mean that if you eat sensibly (which is VLC for us RHers), then there is no need for all the D drugs, so no side effects from them. And the T2 is controlled by VLC. So it is just business as normal, really.
I realise that this isn't everyone's experience of T2, but I definitely feel better now than I did with just RH. Partly due to the strict VLCing, and partly due to the much better understanding of bg and the slower RH drops.
Most of the problems with T2 seem to be with people who are in denial, don't change their diet, went years before diagnosis and have already developed complications, or those who have followed the NHS high carb nonsense diet for years, and have therefore deteriorated.
Plus, a diagnosis of T2 benefits you in a number of ways - regular HbA1cs, regular blood tests and check ups, eye tests for retinopathy, foot tests...
I see it as a positive thing.
Just catching up! I occasionally have a small glass of red wine with a meal or half pint of lager. I've tested my bg 2 hours afterwards and it's always been ok.We are getting married next year as well and I am just trying to think of how I will cope at celebrations generally
I get the tingly fingers, but I also think its anxiety related. Well done you for driving to work. I'm sure it'll get easier for you the more you do it. I find that things I did without a second thought before, now stress me out and cause major anxiety.Yes definitely thanks Kaz I'll start testing all in the name of science!!!
Had a much better day today no bgs above 5.9 so far so I must have had a virus or something. Even my early morning was 5.9 so not too bad.
I went to see my boss and cried all the way there as the rushing with he kids and trying to get there and it taking over an hour to drop everyone off and get to work all got too much. I got stressed about driving and where to park and just silly stuff. Feel a bit better now but have had weird vibrations in my finger this afternoon which I think are anxiety related.
Aiming to return to work next Wednesday x

I've asked for that one to be moved too.@Brunneria, what's happened to the poll forum on RH you started?
Is it up and running yet? Where can we find it?I know we have used this thread but for newbies it is so long!
Now that we have our own forum, let's use that instead. Start a new thread for each question. And then we can use the forum better.
Many thanks!

Wow, sounds like you've had a real struggle with your Doc and symptoms over the years! It's so frustrating that some Doctors won't accept or investigate further, any symptoms or results that don't fit in with the "norm".Its a long story, so i will make it as short as poss.
I've had RH and glucose tolerance issues for approx 44 years.
And prolactinoma (benign tumour of pituitary gland, pumping out extra prolactin, which screws my hormones up a lot) and PCOS since my teens, but these weren't diagnosed until 2000ish.
Following that diagnosis they started monitoring me (sporadically) for PreD and T2.
My last OGTT was about 5 years ago (and was exactly 11 at 2 hours), and i was absolutely on the borderline of T2 diagnosis - and sent home with a Healthy Plate high carb diet sheet, which i ignored!
The OGTT gave me an awful headache, aches, exhaustion, vision so blurred for 2 days that i couldnt drive or use a computer. So i have annoyed the doc by refusing to take one since. His annoyance has expressed by his declaring that he won't diagnose me T2 without one. My doc doesn't like questions or independent thought.
Since then my official fasting bg tests have been between 6.5 and 7.8 but i only got tested annually, and my doc refused to diagnose without an OGTT over 11. I got the second 7+ FBG a couple of months ago, which i understand means that I officially joined the ranks of T2 (though my HbA1c was 42) but i still don't know if my doc accepts 2 x 7+ as a valid diagnosis since the surgery hasn't been in touch about it. They may be ignoring it because my HbA1c is unusually low for a T2!
I reckon i actually hit T2 about 4ish years ago, because that was when my RH seemed to miraculously improve. The night time widdling hit (if i ate carbs) and I also had a severe chest infection that dragged on and on and didn't seem to clear up until the doc blasted it with mega antibiotics.
I found this forum, got a meter, and became even stricter about LC - which sorted all the symptoms out.
At no point in the last 44 years has any doc taken my RH symptoms seriously, so that has never been factored into any of the events above
