Just out of interest I've just tested - 1 hr after breakfast - and I'm 10.6. I had 2 rashers of bacon and a fried egg (fried in the bacon fat, no extra oil), and a cup of instant coffee with skimmed milk.
So, is this too high? I'm not sure what I can do to lower it, other than take more drugs, and when i was on an extra Gliclazide I started having occasional hypos. Since I've dropped that I don't really get below 5, and 2 hrs after a meal am usually between 5 and 7.

Thanks for that advice. I will definitely try that. Do you get different results with instant coffee and freshly brewed coffee like @Brunneria mentioned? I tend to have Nescafe Gold during the week and fresh stuff when husband is at home at the weekends.I know in my case that my 1 hour readings are ALWAYS higher if I have a mug of tea immediately after finishing eating. I have discovered that as caffeine raises BS levels it is best to avoid it with or immediately after a meal, and have your caffeine fix on its own as a snack between meals, so your body isn't coping with both the meal and the caffeine at the same time. I have experimented a lot recently with this, and now just have water with meals (or wine!), and my tea between meals.
