Hi...I had in mind that an 800 cal day diet for a few months would basically mean eating a few morsels a day, or eating a few bread crumbs or something.I'm the type of bloke that needs an idea shouted at me through a megaphone before aI get it lol.

Was in tescos today and saw their light choices range, about 10 different meals all about 400 cals each. That means I can have a good lunch and dinner and still only take in 800cals.3 for 5 pounds, seems like a good deal.

I'm going on what a few relatives have told me about the new research on the low cal diet so I'll have to google it a bit.Going to start tommorrow after I find at how long it takes on the diet to delete the visceral fat etc............. :)

Read all you can as NOT all the meal replacement Shakes have all the Vit Min you need

Hi Greg,

Welcome to the forum. It's great that you want to take control of your diabetes.

As Bob has said, the Newcastle process isn't quite as simple as just eating 800kcal a day. Please do consult your doctor though if you are going to attempt this diet.

wow...just read the pdf. That is a pretty stringent diet!. No way I would keep a complicated diet like that up. I'll stick with the charlie tescos 800cal version for eight weeks and see how effective it is.Had 400 cals at lunchtime then 400 cals tonight. If nothing else I'll lose a few pounds be it money or weight................

I managed the first week fine lost 7lbs and now off all my meds BG 5.5 at docs
into second week to be honest I am not finding it a problem so far

We all have to find our own way to deal with things

Good luck with your Tesco Feast

Hi Greg :) - don't know if you watch your carbs or not - if you do be careful with the Tesco light and indeed any "light" - they may be lower in calories but they are high in carbs - had a pig awful day and thought I would get myself a ready meal and then throw myself on the sofa - couldn't get one with less than 75g of carb in  - needless to say I will be cooking from scratch tonight - stirfry veg with chicken and a few noodles - about 350cal and 25g carb and all fresh with no "nastys"
