Really not happy

Interesting post--

Winterhowk, have you ever had your B12 levels checked?

Low B12 can cause the problem you're having, and Metformin is known to interfere with the body's ability to absorb B12. If you are someone with low B12 because you don't get enough in your diet or already have an impaired ability to absorb it then using metformin could easily and quickly cause a deficiency. It can happen to anyone but usually takes a few years before the body's reserved become depleted, assuming you started with normal B12 levels. The solution could be as simple as taking a B12 supplement and calcium supplement daily or having a monthly B12 injection.

Ask your doctor to test your B12 level, based on your fatigue and erectile dysfunction, and if the level is low or even near the bottom of normal it would be worth taking B12 and calcium to see if it makes a difference. Most Doctors fail to check B12 levels in those taking metformin, even when there is reason to do so, and write off odd symptoms as being caused by diabetes when they are not. Doctors are not infallible nor do they always know everything about a condition or medication.

Just a quick update as imhave been away for a bit. The diabetic clinic was pretty good and the doctor seemed to listen to me which was a first as my own doctor is pretty dismissive of the issue. My medication has been changed, I have been given a meter and some strips so I can monitor the effects that food and my diet have on me and I have been prescribed Taladafil to see of it will help with the disfunction. It's not completely eradicated the problem but it's helped.
I would like to thank everyone for the helpful ideas. I will beat this one way or another. I am in hospital on the 22nd of may for some surgery and then it will be a mad dash to get fit as I am doing a sponsored motorcycle ride for the RBL Poppy appeal on the 23 June... It's a thousand mile ride so shouldn't be to strenuous. Havnt to,d the doctors though as they may have something to say about it..
Anyway thanks for all the advise and support. It is appreciated. Oh and on the B12 suggestion I have started taking a multivitamin supplement that has B12 and calcium in it.....just to be on the safe side.

Good luck with the surgery and the motorcycle ride, and all the rest.

I envy you just a bit with the motorcycle ride, it's been a long time since I was last on a motorcycle and I miss having the wind in my hair and bugs in my teeth.
