Interesting post--
Winterhowk, have you ever had your B12 levels checked?
Low B12 can cause the problem you're having, and Metformin is known to interfere with the body's ability to absorb B12. If you are someone with low B12 because you don't get enough in your diet or already have an impaired ability to absorb it then using metformin could easily and quickly cause a deficiency. It can happen to anyone but usually takes a few years before the body's reserved become depleted, assuming you started with normal B12 levels. The solution could be as simple as taking a B12 supplement and calcium supplement daily or having a monthly B12 injection.
Ask your doctor to test your B12 level, based on your fatigue and erectile dysfunction, and if the level is low or even near the bottom of normal it would be worth taking B12 and calcium to see if it makes a difference. Most Doctors fail to check B12 levels in those taking metformin, even when there is reason to do so, and write off odd symptoms as being caused by diabetes when they are not. Doctors are not infallible nor do they always know everything about a condition or medication.
