I was diagnosed with type 2 pre covid (sugar levels were around 8) and put on metformin. I had to see a consultant about another matter and he switched me onto Glyxambi saying it was better. I've been on that for maybe 2 years and have lost almost 4 stone since my original diagnosis. Just recently my sugar levels are constantly low (3ish when I get up and rarely more than 7 after eating). I try to eat low carb (one or two portions a day max - bread, potato, rice etc). The last few days I've stopped the Glyxambi as an experiment and my levels are pretty much the same. I really don't know if I'm still diabetic or not. I don't live in UK and don't have a diabetic clinic or any form of follow up system. Should I get a blood test done

It is difficult to say what is going on.

3ish in the morning is pretty low. The Glyxambi is supposed to increase your production of insulin.
Could be that your change in diet/weight has reduced your glycemic load to a level that your body is able to cope with, unaided.

Hi @frenchie01, you are still diabetic.
Think of it as an alcoholic who has stopped drinking, they are still an alcoholic. They will always be an alcoholic.

Its great to hear that you have, by the sounds of things, got your condition under control well done. You should be proud of yourself.

You are not cured. You are not in remission. You are controlling your condition.
That's an important distinction to make, it is some thing you have to keep working on or else you will start to experience a rise in your blood sugars and all the complications that it can cause all over again.

It sounds like your doing all the right things, it is not possible for everyone to control there condition without medication but it looks like you may be at that point. You should get a blood test to see where your numbers are at its always better to have the right information if your considering stopping medication.

You still need to talk that through with your Doctor.
