Hi all
I'm hoping someone can maybe give some advice about the problems I'm having with my blood sugar levels.
I've been a diabetic for 34 years and I am very sensitive to insulin changes. I had a hypo a few months ago when I was hospitalised and since then have been working to stop the hypos and have better control. For the previous two weeks my blood sugar levels have been great on a morning, in the 5s first thing and in the 7s mid morning but some hypos in the afternoon. However this week I've been having morning blood sugars in the 11s and mid morning 15s and 16s even after a correction dose.
I carb count and check my ratios every week, my accuracy with carb counting is regularly checked by dietician so thats ok as well, I've had no illness and can't think of any other reason why I'm having these highs.
I have a history of overnight hypos and I know I'm on too much long acting insulin in comparison to short acting. I'm thinking about this and then looking at how my mid morning blood sugar level is increasing despite having had a correction dose and this is what is making me think it could be rebound hypos. My only other thought would be that I had a hypo on Monday of 1.9 but would this still be affecting me now?
Any help would be great.
