Got my review this week and my blood results
Can anyone help me understand them, especially cholesterol as I don't want to be pushed onto statins if things are okay!

Liver function tests
Serum total protein level 73 g/L [60.0 - 80.0]
Serum albumin level 42 g/L [35.0 - 50.0]
Serum alkaline phosphatase level 47 u/L [30.0 - 130.0]
Serum alanine aminotransferase level 79 u/L [< 50.0]
Above high reference limit
Serum total bilirubin level 6 umol/L [< 21.0]

Serum cholesterol level 3.0 mmol/L

My brain is a bit mushy at the moment so I will just pick out the figure I know best.

Serum alanine aminotransferase level 26 u/L [< 50.0] has improved immensely. This is an indication that your liver is no longer fatty. Well done. :)

@bulkbiker can you help with the cholesterol? (can't get my head round LDL and HDL and ratios right now)

I think they look fine, however with no readings for triglycerides you don't get a full picture. There is no way I would take statins with numbers like those. Having cholesterol levels too low is worse than having them 'too high'

Ah great, so the weight loss has helped with the fatty liver it seems. Good stuff, my previous 2 readings were showing as in a higher area, I had to have a repeat test so that's come down, glad about that
