Welcome. Sadly there has been quite a few parents turning up here just lately. Must be something in the air. How old is your son? Hope it hasn't all been too traumatic and your lives can get back to nearly normal.

Hi George is 7 he has cerebal palsy from birth and now we have this he is on novorapid and Levemir he ok other than that just hard work at moment as we are trying to get his sugars to stay out of double figures or below 4 wich we are finding hard

Don't panic too much about the double figures at this early stage. Maybe try and avoid the +20's but it takes some time to get control. It really is a matter of counting carbs and having a regular schedule and then tweaking the food and insulin as you go. Are you still in contact with your doctor or going it alone now?

My son has come down sick again and spiked a 23mmol the other night so even after 3 years we still have numbers not in range. When he is healthy I keep him between 4 and 10 fairly well but will have a couple either too high or too low in the week. Sometimes there doesn't appear any reason for odd bsl's.

You would have seen that Khaleb also has Down syndrome. He went for his hearing test the other day and didn't pass (hopefully this is only because he is a bit congested - more tests to come). We seem to get a new diagnosis of something every year. :( He is still not talking so it is reasonable to expect he has some hearing loss.

It is just hard work and an emotional rollercoaster for some of the time and other times things go along really smoothly. I just wish the smoothly would last longer :)
