Hi guys

I have really long day coming up & usually would revert to sugar free red bull for boost but havent since diagnosis of type 2.

Would it be ok to use it as one off? I'm suffering fatigue again & waiting for increase in dosage to kick in. I read on forum it's not good but not clear if it applies to being one off.

Hi Hughinoo. I felt your Hurt and discuss. Every morning I struggle to get out of bed. But that is me. That is Sam. I am not a Morning Person at all. So I go through the routine every single day. My Son in Law owns CrossFit. It is a huge gym and is Marine core connected. Everyone of us on this Forum want to feel good, feel normal and as one Priest told me feel fully Human and fully Alive. Don’t you? Sure you do. So I join your Red Bull crusade.

Hughinoo - It wouldn't be for me, but that's not the question.

You might want to check the nutritional information: http://energydrink-uk.redbull.com/red-bull-sugarfree-calories

Do you self-test your bloods? Assuming you do, please test around it, as some people find caffeine elevates their blood sugars.

Do you know what is causing the fatigue? It would obviously be better to find that out than self-medicate with caffeine and sweeteners. Sadly, one-offs can turn into regular events all to easily.

Hi my practice nurse thinks it's cos I needed increase my metaformin dosage which she has just done. I'm still waiting to see a diabetic nurse or dietician yet. I dont test yet as am only type 2. I'll see how I feel on day

I don't understand why you are not testing?
Being type 2 doesn't mean you shouldn't be testing. That seems like an invitation for complications.
I'd probably suggest that your fatigue is the result of blood glucose levels being out of whack, too high, but you wouldn't even know what they are without testing.

I'm also type 2 (diagnosed 31st Jan) and do not test. Have no idea if I am supposed to. At diagnosis I was given a prescription by my doctor and sent on my way

No matter what you hear (or even your innocent assumptions), that is not a good idea. Test

Usual NHS neglect. Get a meter test before and 2 hours after meals. Eliminate any carb heavy food which cause a high spike. Aim for 2hr+ readings close to what the reading was to begin with.

The glucose meter is your best tool in the diabetes tool box. If you can't get one on prescription as is often the case for T2's then if at all possible self fund there are relatively cheap options if you need more info just ask, plenty of people here can help.

My Final answer before I depart this Group. As Tophat1900 has said every diabetic should have a Blood Glucose Meter with Plenty of Test strips and use the device. Diabetes will destroy you if you do not take it seriously. And constant cheating on diet turns out to be “All have one or Two” it will not hurt you. I am told that line all of the time. Look at Beer. One beer for this man will be 8 beers. I am not making accusations toward you or anyone in this Forum. But we all have a Human nature and if you follow that inclination you will pay the price. cheers to all.
Sam Danner, Final and I will write the Forum for proper Termination Protocol. No responses please. Thank you. Responses will be deleted without further to do.

nots sure about above. anyway how long have you been caffeine free. i was a very heavy drinker of diet pepsi the migraines from stopping were nasty a could last about 48 hours. if youve needed caffeine to wake up that may be your reason. seriously you need to test to know your bg levels. without them your just guessing.
