reducing Insulin berfore an op

I am to have an op with local anaethesic on my foot. At the pre op the nurse suggested that I reduce my Insulin beforehand but could not advise me. I don't yet have a time but I use Lantus Solo Star 28 in the evening and Novo Rapid for each meal.
I probably would not take any NR when fasting a meal but how do I know how much Lantus to take?

If it were me I’d book an appointment with my GP to discuss this as you’ll need their support. Your GP practice should get a letter from the hospital team (and you’ll get a copy) explaining the diagnosis and procedure they are going to carry out. Then you’ll all be singing from the same hymn sheet.

Can I ask what type of diabetes you have?
Do you have access to a diabetes team you can contact? They should have the knowledge to advise on the lantus. (I'm having a cataract done under local next week so will be interested to see whether I get any preop insulin advice. My notes say I don't need to fast before the op though.)
