Reducing Lantus

At the moment I am experiencing night/morning hypos.

I am on a split dose of Lantus- morning and evening/bedtime.

I have been reducing my evening dose of Lantus by 1 or 2 units for the last three consecutive days. Should I make a change to my dose and monitor it for 2-3 days before making any more reductions. What if I continue to have hypos in those 2-3 day I am waiting and observing?

Hi @CranberryIce ,

I personally would allow a couple of days or so to adjust. (No two days happen to be the same.) :)

Have you looked at this link on basal testing? https://mysugr.com/basal-rate-testing/

Thank you- I didn’t reduce my evening dose earlier so fingers crossed I get through this night without a low.

Thank you for the link.

How does basal testing work when you are on a split dose?xx

Good question. I'm on a single dose. I'm assuming you take your personal split dose 12 hours apart?
However we do it. Basal testing should achieve the same goal of limiting hypos & achieving optimum BG when fasting. Allowing concentration on what we bolus for meal times...

Please consult with your HCPs whilst doing this.
