I need advice or help...got to book for my HbA1C sometime next week, I take 8 or 9 units of novorapid in the morning, usually it will be ok, but I have 6 or 7 units at lunchtime, and 27 in the evening, then 28 units of levemir before bed, last night before bed, when taking my levemir, my levels were 6.7, but it still went up over night, so going to try tonight not to have any bedtime snacks. How can I try and get levels a bit better before doing my bloods next week, any meal suggestions or snack suggestions please

I dont take insulin so won’t make suggestions directly on using that but carbohydrates (of all types and colours) raise levels and thus necessitate medication (or time) for them to fall again. Less carbs means less of a rise - and less insulin required so keep a close eye on bgl. So bread rice pasta grains oats potatoes bananas and most processed foods will raise levels more than things like eggs, meat, cheese, cream, leafy veg, or berries. See the links I’ve put above which have food ideas in them.

Also investigate dawn phenomenon. Levels rise in the morning to get us up and going. In type 2 it goes a bit overboard for some of us. If you do a search in the forum there’s lots of threads on it. Some find an evening snack makes it worse some better, different types of snack help different people. It’s usually the hardest reading to get under control and if you get all the daytime ones good this one should follow eventually.
