Just remembered something else that the consultant said to me yesterday that I'm a little confused about.

He said that it takes five minutes to die from a hypo. Is this true?!

I think he was obsessed with death!

Thanks,

That's not a good thing, when the doctor (who's supposed to treat people) thinks about everyone dying... :)))

It must have been, aren't you meant to eat 15g every 15 mins until you're back to normal?
How would that rule work if you only have five mins to live?

Ignore. He obviously borrowed a white coat following the breakout from his locked ward.

Absolute hogwash. As Paulina said, from when, exactly ? If this was the case, we would be alarmingly dropping like flies.:hungover:

To be honest he probably has patients faking their own death in the waiting room to avoid being seem by him rather than another member of the team ;)

He's talking about from the point you go unconscious, assuming you have no glucose in your bloodstream and no glycogen left in your liver, or too much insulin in your bloodstream to let the blood sugar rise.

Basically he's talking nonsense in the context of what we understand as a real hypo. He is talking about the most extreme possible case of the most severe clinical hypoglycemia. And more to the point, he shouldn't be using scare stories to try to change your behaviour.

Ha!! Yeah!
I'll be faking mine if I see him again!

He was saying that I shouldn't try too hard to keep my bloods down because of this and heart disease.
He was the most back to front doctor I have ever seen!
