Remembering to test

I also forget too ( sometimes on purpose !). No real advice to give really, just wanted to let you know you're not alone lol !

You eat, you test
If you don't test before you eat how do you know how much insulin you need? That's not supposed to be a sarcastic comment but general interest. Do you carb count and correct?

I quite often forget too... I've had a lot of trouble over the years taking care of myself and having the right mindset to think about the things I need to think about in order to keep myself healthy... I'm starting to change though, which is good.


One thing that's been suggested to me, though I am yet to actually do it, is to set up a reminder on my mobile phone. Do you use a mobile? I know most people do these days. Most of them have some sort of function where you can set an alarm to ring and usually you can set it to repeat every day or a few times a day or whatever you want.


The other thing is to use little stickers around the house or wherever you spend a lot of time - just the tiny little brightly coloured dots you can get in stationary shops. They can be used to remind you to do it. But I found that it's very easy to just 'ignore' them after a while - you end up not seeing them.

So I would definitely recommend using the alarm feature on your phone! Good luck!!

That wouldn't work for me as I eat at different times every day. I test every time I'm going to eat. Habit is now what makes me do it!

I don't use insulin, but my T1 husband does. He has a little book in which he writes everything. Just seeing the book reminds him. However I would also say. Use the functions of a mobile phone.
I use mine for all appointments.

Some meters like the accuchek xpert have annoying reminders that you can set on the meter.

In my car, on the bottom of front window I have a small notice 'test blood'. I have just stopped using a broken cgm, and it was great for oressing button predrive for levels... I do have to have a reminder stuck to front window to remind me again now.

Meter alarms or mobile phone reminders are as good as any, if your new to diabetes then testing will become the norm after a while, I don't need any reminders as testing has become part of my everyday routine......regretably

I remember to check before I eat but regularly forget the 2 hour after check I am having quite bad memory problems at the moment though so the only way I can remember is by setting an alarm or my husband reminding me.
