I was given a contour next usb link with my pump which has a remote bolus feature. Although it was set up at the start i had never used it as i was pregnant and my carb ratios varied a lot. Since having the baby my ratios are much simpler and the place i wear the pump less accessible so i tried the remote bolus feature. 3 hrs later i was 19 and 1 hr after that 20. As i'd just put a new set in i put it down to that and changed the set. The set worked fine overnight and i remote bolused today and 2 hrs later was 24! I checked the set site and it looked fine and i corrected using the pump and ignored previous amounts of insulin on board and it went down to 7 2 hrs later. I checked the history on the pump for both days and the boluses are recorded and i could feel it vibrating when it connected to the pump but the only explanation i have is the remote bolus feature doesn't work.

Has anyone else had this experience? I've checked the set up and it all looks fine. All the bs results on the meter deliver to the pump or record when they fail.

I would call the helpline and ask there, I am not that well informed with the 640 :(

Hope you get this sorted though

Scary when the technology lets us down - I had a 23.9 recently due purely not to pressing the last 'OK' in the process to deliver a bolus - the Insight remote is a little slow in working through each step, and I was going something else at the same time and forgot to go back to it to hit the final 'OK' - that'll teach me to concentrate on the job in hand...

Hope the helpline is of help and they get it sorted.

i have the Veo from Medtornic and the next link meter........I think i may be misunderstanding what you mean by remote bolus though....

with mine when the BG reading is taken it is sent to the pump and then using the bolus wizard you input your carbs and away you go with the dose the wizard provides.....

is this what you are doing?

its just that for me there is no remote bolus.....there is still a physical interaction to give the dose....

i realise i am on an older model now so probably dont have all the facts...

All pumps are very thorough in this respect, as a final step on the Omnipod Pump it asks you to Confirm the bolus dose before commencing insulin delivery, like you I once forgot to press confirm and went high afterwards and was scratching my head and wondering why

Hope you get sorted today @tigger

I guess in terms of user safety it's good that there are so many stages, frustrating they may sometimes be.

I wouldn't've minded (much) if my 23.9 had been the result of forgotten insulin plus a huuuuuge slice of cake - but the missed-bolus lunch had been some rather ordinary homemade soup!

Still, that's life!

Spoke to medtronic and they're sending me a new pump. Bit scared now. We went through all the tests and pump performed correctly. However it showed both boluses as being given and no alarms. That was why with the 1st i thought it was a set issue as the bolus was showing on the insulin on board. When i get the new one i'll trial the remote function without it being attached to me.

It's a 640g function only. Not available on the veo.

On the meter there is a button for manual bolus and preset bolus. You dial up the bolus press send. It connects with the pump and says sent. You then press ok and it's confirmed. It then is meant to deliver. The issue i have is either it hasn't delivered or if i missed out the final step the pump didn't alarm and recorded the bolus as given.

Gosh, that's scary! Glad they're sending you a new pump - bad luck indeed that it had failed so fundamentally. If we can't trust our kit then that's bad news.

My handset needed replacing when the on/off button failed the day before Christmas Eve! Survived the festive season and was very glad that Roche got the replacement to me before the year was out! Good to know the system works when it comes to replacing broken pump paraphernalia (pumperphernalia?!).

Do report back to say that your new pump is working as it should be!
