Hi there, I had my usual bloods ahead of my Diabetic check up at the GP’s, I’ve been recalled to have the GFR repeated in 2 wks and said on the letter to make sure I am well hydrated before the test. No reason for this on the letter, has anyone had similar with a recall? I had the GFR done in the summer through the hospital and it was over 90 so wasn’t expecting any issues.

Yes, how much you drank the day before can affect the result massively. This happened to me on one occasion. The GP volunteered the information that these abnormal 'rogue' results are so frequent, that the standard advice is for the test to be repeated a short time afterwards. It takes two abnormal results to cause any concern.

Good to know you read my answer. Having to have any test repeated worries most of us. You would think that the HCPs involved would explain why they were telling you to up your fluid intake, wouldn't you ?
