Research reviews effectiveness of bariatric surgery for adolescents

Oh yes it's a business. Very lucrative. Like all surgeries.

Oh yeah, I understand that, but the way some are going about it really is shocking and I'd never set foot in the door of someone going around trying to generate patients in that manner. To me that shows a lack of character, professionalism and just not someone I'd trust in the slightest. Or maybe I'm just picky?

Definitely not.
Anyone facing a surgery should do their homework. Even in the nhs.

This was quite refreshing! A bariatric surgeon keen to look at other options than the knife for those he believes are suffering from carbohydrate addiction.
Makes the point that young people usually have a while to go before their obesity causes disease. Whereas an older person may have less time to resolve the issue with diet.
My type 2 dad believes that surgery would be a great idea because he finds it hard to give up carbs however under the NICE guidelines he'd have to eat himself up to a higher BMI in order to qualify - a perverse incentive if there ever was one!
