Researching a cure for Type 2?

i was half-listening to the midnight news on Radio 4 last night, and distinctly heard the newsreader say something about 'latest results getting close to a cure for Type 2 diabetes', or similar. Absolutely no other details!

Can anyone help? or am I imagining thing? I definitely wasn't asleep - i was playing Patience on the computer My excuse - it slows down the brain activity so i go to sleep quickly :lol:
