Type 2 (diet/exercise controlled)
I made a post last night, now deleted (by me), in which I was wondering why my 'base' BG had been raised over a 24/48 hour period. It is normally around 4.8/5.4 but has refused to drop below 6.0 for almost two days now. This was perplexing me because I had eaten exactly the same things - nothing new - do not have a cold - I couldn't make any sense of it.
Overnight it occurred to me that the only thing different was that I have started doing some (very light) resistance training. Is it possible that the body's process of 'repairing' muscles involves more BG being produced?
I made the fundamental mistake of not allowing a day in-between training sessions so worked the same muscles three days running - would this have had an effect?
Can anyone explain any of the following to me please:
- I thought resistance training would help to lower BG - it seems to have done the opposite - is this possible? Does it only work in certain cases?
- how do muscles actually repair - what part does BG play?
- if this is responsible for the raised BG would waiting a day in-between sessions have made a difference?
Thanks in advance for any help/advice.
