Just out of curiosity, do any of you suffer with restless leg syndrome?

If so, any tips on relieving it? I struggle to sleep at night as my legs are twitching so violently that my partner can't sleep beside me! I jerked so hard last night that I've actually hurt my knee and I'm having trouble walking for long today, I've had enough... help!!

Hello, sorry to hear you have RLS, I have it too. I have had it for a few years now and on tablets. Ropinirole x 2, 1 hour before bed and then ( because it got so bad during the day) I take 1 1/2, tablets late afternoon. I honestly couldn't do with out this medication. I tried a few home remedies( one was soap at the end of the bed !!):wideyed: but nothing worked at all and I am an active person.
Please dont suffer from this horrible condition, go to your GP as there is help available. Probably you will have a blood test to see if you are low in iron, if so, iron tablets are usually given, but It didn't help my RLS,
All the best and good luck, please get some help, take care.

Hi,@caity.x . The only small tip I can give is avoid caffeine. I stopped drinking coffee etc; 5 hours before bedtime and it did help a lot.
Have you asked your Doctor for advice.
Hope you get a few more tips and the best of luck.:)

I don't really touch caffeine anyway as it gives me a headache. I had avoided the doctor as I felt silly but it's becoming a burden now - I even sit/lie and watch a movie with my partner and now that I've caused myself pain I've realised enough is enough, it's driving me nuts!

I need something, I just want some relief. That horrible feeling like an itch right in the bone makes me feel sick! I'd love to be able to just sit and relax, or go to bed and not fight with my legs. Fingers crossed something can fix me!

Ask your gp for tablets to try for restless legs...

Mine are Adartrel/ropinirole. There's differing strengths of them.

I've read on the forum that some members swear by drinking tonic water before bed helps with restless leg syndrome, apparently its the quinine in the tonic water that helps.

Believe me it is not silly at all, it's an awful condition. I only found out from my dad's Gp. When I took my dad to see his GP she said I looked tired, I told her what the problem was and she had been sent leaflets on RSL, she gave one to me, so I went to see my GP and the rest is history.
There are some home remedies on the Internet, you could have a look, but nothing helped me.
Good luck RRB

Yes it really is awful @caity.x. I have it too and RRB offered me the information about Ropinrole but because I take other meds now which would interact with Ropinrole I can't take it.
Sleep deprivation is a recognized form of torture and I understand why now.
Please do go and ask your GP for a script and get some relief. Good luck x

Read in a magazine to use Parmolive soap . :wideyed:
Place at foot of bed .
Why ? only or just parmolive soap ? o_O

A lady swore by this for her RLS .

She said both Lux and Pears soaps didn't do the trick .
Only the Parmolive soap worked !

At least the feet (toots) are sure to smell lovely with this one :)

Only in bed at night my legs can feel achey and I need to keep
stretching them to relieve the aches or pains .
Is this RLS ?

With me not achey, jerking and a very odd pulling sensation, some get a burning feeling, some a feeling of ants running up and down. Lots iof different symptoms. I don't want to freak anyone out , but the feeling you get anna, I sometimes get in my arms, yes it can affect the upper limbs too, wanting to stretch them a lot and I also rub them quite vigiously, to get rid of 'that feeling'. So i've got the lower limbs auditioning Irish dancing for Michael Fkatley :arghh: and the upper limbs doing something completely different, oh........... heck :wideyed:
I hope you don't have it anna, just keep an eye on it, and if it worsens (you will know) see you GP.

RRB - you boogie or dancing in your bed ?
Feet and arms going together .
(picture in my mind of you :))

No ants in pyjama legs or irish dancing or jigs with me 'yet' ;)
Only achey legs that I do use GP prescribed Quinine meds with .

What does the meds you use and take do to help you with your RLS ?
No drowsiness with these ?

No, no drowiness, but in the begining I did feel sick and very ill sometimes, at night, it took a while to get rid of side affects though. I take Ropinirole and Ardatel, same as dd, is it can be used to treat Parkinsons disease, similar type of symptoms that affect part of the brain, but the two conditions are not related, RLS does not mean you will get Parkinsons, as I asked my GP about this. RLS is also kniwn as Ekbom Syndrome. I wouldn't want to give up this medication ever, never. It's not 100%, but its the best for me.

I have skimline tonic water 2 tomes a day and I think that has helped cos I'm not taking my tablets anymore.. And my legs were restless the minute I ever sat down let alone lay down!!

they are also saying it could be chronic stuff like diabetes as the cause :banghead:
http://www.webmd.com/brain/restless-legs-syndrome/restless-legs-syndrome-rls

it seems when you are going to sleep, your brain shuts the nervous system down to stop movement
http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2012/07/120711131030.htm

but it can also go too far and get sleep paralysis

Do not like the 3rd one Jack, and RLS is more common in females :arghh::(
