Today I have had a day off my low carb diet. Today I celebrated my daughters 21st birthday with afternoon tea at Claridges. Sandwiches and cakes galore. Four hours later, when I got home, I nervously tested my BG. 5.3 (95.4) result!

Claridges! Fancy pants!
Apologies for putting a dampener on your feelings but at 4hrs you could well have missed the glucose spike completely. If you've been getting around on public transport then no doubt you burn't some of it off. You should try checking 2 hrs after eating to get a good handle on your BG numbers.
Hope you had a good time.

Sounds like you had a great day at Claridges with sandwiches and cakes, but probably not so great up to 2 hours after you ate them! I am always back to base by 4 hours after a carby meal, usually by 2 and a half. I don't blame you one bit for the celebration- it isn't every day your daughter is 21, but don't think for one minute you wouldn't have had a spike! Sorry. :(

Oh I wasn't thinking I hadn't had a spike, I would have been scared to test after 2 hours! I was worried it wouldn't have come down before I went to bed. I did have a slightly higher fasting reading this morning but not going to worry about it. Went for a 5k run and all was back to normal 2 hours after breakfast. I did decide yesterday that carbs don't make me feel good, felt very full and bloated and had indigestion on the tube. Was worth it though, the food was amazing but only for an occasional treat.

I got treated to the Ritz for dinner for my birthday.. So understand the indulgence totally for Tea at Claridges. Results after very good.. I'm sure enjoyment helps the carbs burn!!!-lol.

Sounds like you and daughter had a womderful time. Hope your daughter enjoyed her 21st!!
