Hi guys

A picture says a thousand words ... well, you get the idea. Owe a heck of a lot to all of you (plus my wife :)) and what a relief. The doctor continues to be amazed. He thought I may have dropped a little but not this much. Bypassed the exceecllent range completely and went from good to non diabetic. Mike :)

If I could still drink Guinness, I'd down a 12 pack and not blink, I'm so happy. I'll be content to just celebrate this with my mates on here !!!!!!!!!

Mike, that's brilliant in 6 mths, we all know how much effort went into that..what were your cholesterol/trig/hdl/ldl scores?
lets hope you get the 'hypo if on insulin' warning next time :)

Gidday Jack :):):):)

Still dancing here :)

This was a non fasting read as my cholesterol / trig scores were perfect last time 'round (after being less than ordinary in June) and the doc wasn't interested in doing them. I say that as they went from sub optimal / high risk to perfect in 3 months. As I've said previously, he's a GREAT bloke.

I'm so glad people on here (you being a prime example) are so supportive :)

Cheers Mike :)

they are a nice set of numbers..don't bother with the video's...;)

Yep, otherwise I'd do my head in. :)

Next stop is to quit smoking .... as the doc said, you've followed the rules like no other patient I've ever had (quote), and if you can beat T2, you can give up the cigs.

Also told me to eat more eggs and when I told him his in house dietician (now gone) told me to give them up 3 months back, he simply said "she's an idiot".

That pleased me no end as I hadn't had one for three months. Now back on 'em of course.

Excellent! Very well done Mike!

Exactly how I feel Pavlos :) Your inspiration, your honesty, your up front approach and your guidance have (with help from others) pushed me along. I'd have been completely lost without you to be perfectly honest. That's not to decry my other mates ... far from it.

What got me with you from day #1 was your approach and one I wanted to adopt rather than wallow in my own misery and give up. Not that I'd have ever got to that point, but I saw your strengths, your confessions and inside of me, quickly understood you could either do something about this condition or you could not.

It's been a tough last 3 months ... REALLY tough ..... but the doctor and I really like each other (as does the nurse) and I don't give up too easily.

My thanks and my eternal respect, not only to my friends here (WAYYYYYY too many to mention), but particularly to you :)

Mike thank you for your kind words, though I suspect you are giving me more credit than I deserve.

You are still the one who had to do the hard work and put all the advice into practice.

Now comes the hard part.

Having crossed one virtual finishing line and achieved a non diabetic hba1c, you now have to do it all over again. No easing off period aloud for us. Not that there is much fear of that with your competitive spirit!

Very well done, again!

Pavlos

The hard part for me is in fact the easy part. Crossed the line and next goal is the smoking. Diet won't change, cravings won't be permitted and just get on with it.

Mike :)

... and my grateful thanks to Brunneria, bluetit, ally, alliebee, snowy, Anne from BNE, Neil, CC, And breathe, Mr Colvin, Nuthead, Kimbo and SOOOO many others.

THANKS Snowy :)

Yep, next stage and love your support

Well done Mike, giving up smoking will be one of the best decisions you've ever made.

Well done Mike. We can all chip in with words of "wisdom", but with this thing, you and only you can walk the walk.

Perhaps now you can relax a little? I don't necessarily mean relax your diet, but meaning hopefully some of your anxieties will ebb away.

An nice early Christmas present for you.

Thanks noblehead :)

At $25 a packet here, I have my incentive :) Stage 2 for me come new year :)

Not sure what that is in £ but even $1 would be too much, they are bad news all-round and they increase the chances of complications in people with diabetes, just Google the two.
