i,ve to have my retinal eye screening on the 6th august
how long roughly will my eyesight be blurred afterwards?

They give you drops to open up the pupils and these drops can last a couple of hours. They recommend you take sunglasses with you but don't forget to take your normal glasses as well since you will be asked to read an eye chart.

Not particularly blurred - just very sensitive to bright light. A couple of hours to get back to normal. Don't forget to take dark sunglasses with you. If the sun is shining on the day be aware that reflections off cars and shiny things can be very bright and momentarily hurt your eyes.

Yes, I drive the last time I had the eye test. sat and had a coffee. then drove home. Was wearing sunglasses, did not have a problem, but live in France so most of the roads are quiet and I live in a village so traffic is not a problem My test is due 21st July

Hi, I asked the dr if it was ok to drive, She said sit for a while have a drink, as I was on my own needed to return home, ISo could not see a problem. have sunglasses that are prescription lenses. If I thought that I was a danger then no way would I have driven, but I go every year for eye test at the hospital. and always stop and have a coffee and sit for period.
I am sorry if I offended anyone. but when you are on your own not a lot I can do. I certainly am aware of driving when you have two black blobs. but by the time I get back my eyes are nearly back to normal
I do not mean to offend

I've had two screenings since diagnosis and I've been awfully lucky to not have to have the drops but I after each screening I did have a headache that lasted most of the day.. I have yet to experience the drops but I've been told because I am young I might not need to have drops until I'm in my late 20's/ early 30's I'm only 22 so hopefully a while before I have to have them.. I'm a little anxious about them to be honest.. I don't like the thought of not being able to see clearly..

Best wishes!

Got mine next week. Anyone drives after the test?

Not advisable after being given the drops that dilate the eyes, dilated eyes leads to blurry vision and if you have an accident on the way home your insurance will be void and you'll be in a whole heap of trouble with the Police.

When I go to my screening appointments they always ask if I drove and will be driving back. If you say yes they will not put the drops in and instead make a new appointment as u are not supposed to drive for 8 hours after having the drops put in.
