Today I had my first retinopathy test and it was good news. I do have a miniscule bleed on my left retina but hopefully it won't get any worse, and I don't have to have another test for a year. I was so stressed about going for this test, I have no idea why, maybe it was because it was my first.
Then I discovered that my cataracts are tiny and not enough to cause eye sight problems, so that leaves me with what is causing my eyesight to be so bad. I have done some research and I think I may have dry eye syndrome, as all the symptoms are there, so I have sent for some lubricating eye drops and some eye gel and will see how I go with that. If the result is negative then I will go to see dr.
I keep good control of my BG but have decided to go further on reducing carbs. So far I have been doing OK with up to 3 slices of wholemeal bread a day but to start with I'm going to start cutting that down to just 1 slice and concentrating more on salads and vedg. At the moment I am just above the non diabetic range of BG and I want to aim to be within those numbers. It seems a long time since I was diagnosed last November but, in altering my life and way of thinking it's no time at all really. My diabetes has to live WITH ME, not me WITH IT....so there!
