I have 3c diabetes and have recently been told I have retinopathy and need to control my blood sugars better, however the Gp has said my HB has always been between 50 and 55 so not that high and doesn't think it's down to the blood sugars, my blood pressure and cholesteral are also well controlled. I just wondered if any one else has had retinopathy with low HB readings.

Thanks and sorry for any spelling mistakes.

Do you check after eating to see if your blood glucose spikes?
The Hba1c is an average, and just as the average of 49 and 51 is 50, it is also the average of 30 and 70 - you might be getting high numbers which are offset by low ones.
