Retinopathy

Hi everyone I'm new to posting on the forum

I'm 32, I've been a T1 for 24 yrs and I've been pretty healthy throughout. My hba1c is always around 5-6mmol . However dispute my very tight control I was told by letter after my last eye screening 2 weeks ago that I have "some background retinopathy" but I don't need further treatment. My eyesight is fine at the moment.
It's really knocked me for six and scared me a little. I don't really know what happens next. Does this mean I'll have eye problems in the future or can I reverse this?

Sorry to post on a negative note

Hi I've just been diagnosed type 1 and I'm injecting insulin, has anyone had blurred vision when on insulin.
I've had my eyes examined and they said there is no reason why my eyesight should be blurry? Not sure if I've posted this in right place sorry.

I've had blurred vision when I had unusually high blood glucose following my oral glucose tolerance test.

And there have been other comments on other threads where people have experienced similar. In one thread I am sure someone mentioned that their vision was so affected that they needed different glasses prescriptions, which reverted back once their blood glucose stabilised.

Try searching for threads on the subject. You are definitely not alone!

Michellebaker, it's safe to say that your screening team will monitor your eyes closely from here-on and report any changes to your HCP's if action is needed, background retinopathy doesn't always progress so try not to worry too much.

There's a good explanation here about background retinopathy which you should read:
