Rising glucose levels

Morning,

I was curious to why my levels rise after a prolonged period between meals.

As far as I understand my body is looking for energy and seeks from within as I have not eaten anything.

My monitoring has been going well since being diagnosed back in December levels coming down drastically. Out of 118 reading I now have an average of 8 per reading with an estimated HbA1c of 6.2.

Should I be looking to take a snack between meals to stop my levels rising as I would presume my levels would increase when I take food anyway. Just a bit confused on this.

I was looking at fulfil bars, high enough carbs but also a very high fibre count, sometimes higher than the carbs themselves.

Many thanks,

Malcolm

You haven't really given us enough information to answer your question.
What medication are you on?
What are your average levels before eating?
What sort of rises do you see after eating, and HOW LONG after eating?
What are your typical meals made up of?

I found sticking to low carb and just two meals a day has been bringing my levels down each week, including in the mornings before eating. It is perfectly normal for the liver to produce glucose to maintain the body between meals, everyone does it all the time, it is just that you are testing and are aware of it. Instead of eating a carb laden snack, perhaps taking a walk might help bring your levels down?

I generally have a few nuts for snacks. Not a fistful. Literally a few. When I was T2 I did need a snack between meals to keep bs down. Something small and fatty. Not carbs or protein. So it was nuts, olives or a few celery chunks dipped in a mayo based dip
