I had the same question actually. My house insurance will charge me £76 extra for the 12 months, and insurance4insulinpumps.co.uk are quoting £7.99 per month for my animas vibe. I tried protectyourbubble.com on the off chance, but they didn't even know what an insulin pump was, and so could not help me out. I just wondered if anyone else had any other options/suggestions please?
This is my post. My house insurance through the bank said it wouldn't cover the pump if I was away from house for few days and something happened. So that's pointless. Protect your bubble said no we don't insure them find a specialist. In the end think I will be going for insurance4insulinpumps got a quote of 7.22 a month so I guess that'll have to do
We put mine on the household insurance very cheaply, but the thing that isn't covered is a loan pump, should I need to borrow one if mine needs to go to the garage for repair. And that's okay with me, because I could insure that separately should the need ever arise. Was surprised when my husband told me they'd categorised it as a 'disability aid' but hey ho, I guess they can't have a separate category for absolutely everything.
Had my pump last August and the house insurers Santander wouldn't cover it because I hadn't paid for it, I insured it with insulinpumps@burnett for £ 7 odd a month, when I renewed the house insurance in February I went on compare the market and put it in as a named item, quite a few came up and I chose the AA, I phoned them up just to make sure and everything was fine, so I ended up with pump and contents insurance for slightly more than just pump insurance.
